Notes
An important and interesting day. A good experiment:
No food; nothing but coffee. Limited hydration. 68 degrees and moderately humid. High noon, on purpose.
3 Mile to track and back warm up/cool down easy @ 10:00 pace
10 x 800 @ ~3:40;
3:40ish/1 lap walk/jog recovery.
(Note: recovery probably too long, not necessary. Jog more next time, or do a half lap).
1-9 @ 3:29-3:39. 7:20 pace is effortless.
Last 800 @ 3:00 flat. Pushed just a little.
Easy. Whole thing was easy. No food so I bonked by the third rep, but it was still easy.
I could have PR'd the last 800. A 2:30 800m is in the near future. Probably already capable of a sub 6:00 mile, for the first time since circa 1987. A sub-20 5k is much, much closer than I thought.
If Yasso is right, and the endurance there (it is), the only thing keeping you from a sub 3:40 marathon is a warm day and a weak mind. There's no reason you can't run 8:30 pace for 26.2. 9:00 pace should be cake. Should be able to do it in your sleep.
We'll see. A very, very good run. First 9/10, methinks. Easy. I could have done it again.
The only reason you won't kill this marathon - a PR by at least 20 minutes - is all in your head.
It's all in your head, dummy. Shut up and run.
