Notes

Great Bay Half Marathon. A little windy but perfect temps.

Didn't get much sleep due to work last night and might be coming down with whatever Maggie has, but whatever the reason, just didn't have it today. At the 4 mile mark, I knew I was in trouble as far as trying to run a sub 1:35. Eric was right with me around the 5 mile marker, so I figured I was just try and stay with him as long as I could. My HR just wouldn't settle down and felt like air was tough to come by. As I came up to the circle I still felt really winded even though the legs seemed good, but at that point figured even a PR wasn't worth the struggle so I decided I would let it go and live to race another day.

I figured then I would jog lightly, catch my breath and wait for Eric to come around the circle so I could try to help encourage him for the last mile or so as he looked great and was heading for a big PR which he ended up getting.

The Sanford girls, Lou-Ann, Noel & Heidi did great too!

Interesting, you were running sub 7:20s a week ago for the same distance and your HR was in the 160s. Every day is different..

Rob_K

Yea, I ran better last Sunday and wasn't event racing. Heart was racing today but I wasn't. Grats on a great run, you looked uber smooth most of the way.

gadman

Pretty goods splits anyway smart to save it for another day !

Greg C

Every day is different indeed. You're primed to nail one here soon, though.

Scorps

The circumstances sucked for you today but that's still a hell of an effort. Cremer is right though, you're gonna nail one soon.

L Train

You should try not sucking.

Rob_K

I heard there was an opening in the pool, I may have to look into it.

Racing heart rate is definitely something to respect. I had that come on not too long ago. It lasted for only a day, I think. There's no point in trying to perform when that happens. Hopefully, it will be ephemeral for you, too.

Rob_K

Yea, that was my thought... I have never run at that high of rate for that long. This HR was about the same as my 10K even though I was 15s slower. My last two tempo runs also indicate that this was an elevated HR for me. Maybe I am just getting old but we will see what the next race brings. I'll gun for Eric another day.
