At mile one the wind ripped the hat off my head, and I found myself running the wrong way down the course to retrieve it. After that I settled in to a pace that was too fast, but couldn't seem to do much about it. Headwind in the early miles, tailwind when we turned (accounts for the 6:44 mile), then more headwind and late ups and downs. Headwind in the final miles along the shore was HELLACIOUS, at just the wrong time. Caught up to Leslie ODell late and chatted a bit, finishing just ahead of her. Considering I lost a minute or so to a portajohn stop at the end of the 20th mile, this was a run to be proud of.
