First ever Move Your Bones race. 5K. A small home town race for all ages. Not timed officially, but there was a clock set up. 45 participants. I think I was the only woman anywhere near my age. There were two older men. I had practiced on the course, and was as ready as I could be. Getting started, as usual, was hard. After only about three minutes of running, I had to walk a little bit, then run, and then walk. That lasted more than 4 minutes. My thinking was that it was just too hard to run, and I wished it was all over. I don't get my stride until between 4 - 6 min. into the race, tnen it is better. That race start business has to be addressed.

Al was there helping with registration.

I did mile one a few seconds faster than my goal I had written on my hand. Same with mile two. Mile three was hard, because there is a considerable hill about half way through. I ran all the way up the hill. I might not have, except the man behind me was pushing two babies in a stroller, and egging on his 6 yr. old, and telling the 6 yr. old how they would pass me on the hill, and how to keep running, etc. Outloud, yet, and I could hear. So that egged me on, and I knew at that point that I would run up that hill if it killed me.

There was one snaffoo on mile three on the course, and I had crossed over to the other side of the street, because my "rabbitt" old man in front of me did, and then was told I had to go back to the other side. Turns out, that was not true, so I lost a little time doing that.

Unfortunately, I failed to stop my watch at the finish, so my time is a good guess. I tried to be fair. I'm happy with it - no PR, probably, but on the fast side for me.

I ran in my clown costume, and it was really hot and muggy. There were no winners, but were maybe 6 fast runners in the race. There were lots of good prizes, and I won a $25. gift card from Nike. Yea!

Afterwards Al and I went to our favorite local Mexican place, where I took Renee' and Ben once, and had tacos and Diet Pepsi.

I'm happy with this race.
