This is why I run through a Michigan winter. It is for days like today. Blue skies, the sun rays gently beating down, a cool wind wrapping around me like a hug from the gods. Easy pacing to take in the day, to look up and around instead of 5 feet in front of me. Aiming for mud puddles rather than away from sheets of ice. Where 6 miles felt like six minutes rather than 6 months at 6 below. I know it won't last, and in a day or two I'll have to gear up for another trudge through sub-freezing temps. But for today, sweet jesus, for today all those winter miles were worth it.
