Notes

Last collegiate race ever... 31 second PR. Definitely could have run faster if I had run smarter. Hedrick went to the front straight from the gun so from there it pretty much became a race for second. I wanted to put myself in that race and not count myself out from the start, so I went out faster than I should have and paid for it later. First mile was 5:13 and felt really comfortable. Kevin and Kennedy were leading with Scherf and Gothard behind them and then myself, Daniel Baker and Dakota Frost. Second mile we picked it up a little bit and were 5:07 or so and I was still hanging in there pretty well, but right around 2 and 1/2 someone surged again and I got gapped. From there it was just under 2 miles solo trying to gain some ground on Kennedy who was about 50 m in front of me but not being able to make up the gap. Then Austin Bert caught up to me and passed me and I tried to hold on to him for as long as I could, but I was pretty much out of gas at that point. I finished hard and had nothing left at and I did my best to enjoy the whole experience as much as I could since it was my last race. So thankful for my teammates and coaches. Crazy to think that 5 months ago I was on crutches and wasn't running full strength until the beginning of March and still managed to PR in my last 2 races.
