Notes

I've felt better, but haven't run that many 7:30 miles before, so chalking this up as a big success. The first mile felt weird, since I didn't warm up due to a last-minute bathroom break before the start, but it was right on pace. Second mile was a bit fast, but I managed to get things under control. Miles 4-7 were great, then I started to get some aches in the legs (note: did not feel any particular hamstring, achilles, or foot pain that had been a nuisance over the past few weeks). Miles 8-11 were a struggle, but since I had gotten halfway in about 48:30 I knew I would break 1:40 even if I slowed down a bit, so I just tried to relax and maintain a good pace. Was passed by a few people in the last few miles, including Brian Devereaux (shaking fist) but was not able to make myself go faster, until the last few minutes where I reined a couple in and had a good finish. Legs were really wobbly after crossing the line, prompting a "you ok?" from one of the volunteers, but I was able to walk it off. Drank some water, met up with Jed, Brian and Dave and their families, got some grub, watched the first few marathon finishers, then headed to the Mullenix house for a nice lunch and some touch football with the kids.
