Notes
Good run this morning. One kid took the race out way too fast so I just let him go and settled into a comfortable but fast pace and chased him down. Dan Crooker and Henry Gaudion were right on my shoulder and the 3 of us passed the front runner about 2/3 of a mile into the race. Dan and Henry got a little ahead until I shot past them on the hill at 1 mile, then they got ahead again through to the end of the 2nd mile. About 2 and a third to 2.5 miles in I caught Dan as he faded fast and tried to run down Henry, but he dropped a hammer and pulled out a 4:50-5:00 final mile and beat me by 13 seconds. I had about 20 seconds over 3rd place (Dan was 4th.)
My odds look good for the Triple Crown Series since Henry isn't eligible for cash even if he does come and run the other 2 races and I don't think anybody else that was there can beat me over the course of both runs. So - now all I need to do is show up and not do anything stupid...
