A couple of kids went out quickly to be media whores, and I decided at the last minute not to do intervals and instead to race it. I chatted with the kids a bit as I passed them, and was caught by Jeff Sprague at about a mile or so. I ran with him a bit and then he pulled away. I just tried not to let him get too far, and then reeled him in after crossing the bridge. He started to lag a bit with about 3/4 of a mile to go, and I managed to catch him before the last turn. I then managed to outsprint him to the finish, which was kind of nice. It was definately a race effort instead of a tempo effort.
