Notes
Definitely felt yesterday's Beach to Beacon during the first few miles. About a mile and a half in a front pack took off so I ran most of the race alone. Mike Dowling was also doing a B2B/Breaker double and was chasing me the entire race. During the technical sections (especially uphill or downhill) I would gap him by about 200 yards or so, but he would catch me on the flatter and easier trails. We chatted a bit as he ran behind me and tried to make a move, but I forgot to mention to him that I've done loops on the mountain before during a fat ass so I had been saving a bit of strength for after the last full summit. Coming down the South Ridge I was able to gap him pretty well (about 2.5 miles left) so I took the trip up to the Summit as fast as I could and then just hauled ass. I managed to beat Mike by about almost 2 minutes, which is good as we are both at the top of the series standings and I'll take any win I can get over somebody that can run 10 minutes faster than me in a marathon. (Mike beat me by about 30 seconds yesterday at the B2B) He came in to the finish in a pack of 4 folks. I never saw any of the guys that took off early. Came in 5th overall in 67:28.
