Notes
1 More Mile Day 4 - today I got my running in while volunteering for the Blizzard - and by volunteering, I mean I just took pictures. I was supposed to warn off snowmobiles that there'd be runners on the trails, but none came by and there was a park ranger there to do the same thing so it wasn't much work.
Did get some GREAT shots - mostly due to using my good camera. Haven't touched it for a couple years at this point because it's more difficult to carry around than our little point & shoot, but I'm glad I took it out. I only have a 128 MB memory card though since when I bought the camera that cost me an extra 50 or 80 bucks - but you can get 2 GB cards in the style it takes for around 20 bucks now so I think I might be picking one up soon. I have a feeling I'll be taking race photos more often over the next couple years.
As for the shots themselves, I found a great spot where the snow was deep enough that I dug out a little foxhole complete with places to lodge my feet and elbows so I could steady the camera and get "snow level" shots of the snowshoers as they went by. Since most came 1 at a time it also let me zoom in a few hundred feet up the trail to get some shots from farther off (and these ones actually came out better I think) so especially for those later in the pack I got some better pictures.
