Got adopted by Coda (the dog near Black Brook) again today; he lives in the best place ever. He can sneak out of his house and adopt trail-goers and show them how to navigate through his woods, and despite being 14 years old with a grizzled white muzzle he's still running around like a puppy. I actually picked him up at the opposite side of the preserve from his house where some snowshoers were parked; there were four women who obviously didn't hear me warning them I was coming over the sound of their snowshoes because one of the ones in back screamed when I came up to them, which caused the ones in front to turn around and then one of THEM screamed too. Coda was a bit ahead of them and ran with me back up the snowshoe trail and would have done another loop with me but his owner was there looking for him and was happy I'd helped him come back. On a later trail, I broke through some ice and fell down and broke through a bunch of times, getting soaked to the waist, but thankfully I wasn't wearing my gloves and they were in a jacket pocket and stayed dry so I put them back on and was comfortable enough within a half mile or so. It was warm enough out that it didn't take long for my frozen shoelaces to thaw enough to get my feet out of my shoes after getting home.
