First 5K in a while and using as preparation for workouts and Cooper in a couple of weeks. Started out way too fast at a 6:46 1st mile and quickly realized I wouldn't be able to keep that up so I backed off. 2nd mile had me at 13:48. At the time I didn't feel like I was exerting myself as much as I actually was, but it did show with the final time being sub 22. I don't mean to say that in a cocky way - I was definitely almost going to throw up after my sprint to the finish line - but my normal runs are at 8:30ish and this was much faster so I am happy with the results. I felt a lateral back pain towards my underarm, but that could have been referred pain from my heart working hard. I was also cramping around my liver towards the end. Will avoid Subway foot longs 3 hours before future races. Had I not been cramping up so badly in my abdomen, I could have maybe finished off my sprint at the end and shaved some seconds off the final time.
