I found the first three miles more challenging than the last three simply because of needing to get into a pace. Didn't take any water from the stops and was fine with that. I did take a Gu around mile 4 and think that was a good idea. I thought I was averaging 9 minute miles and was ok with that until I remembered my goal to finish in 3 hours. At mile 5 I had just enough time if I pushed hard to finish in 3 hours and picked up my pace to what I believed to be my 8:30/10K pace. Crossed the line at full speed and finished in 3:00:45. But I also finished with energy in reserve and knew I could've gone faster earlier or pushed harder throughout.
