Half Ironman Run.
Started out slow and went to first porta pots around mile 1. Took water at almost every stop as well as sponges. At about mile 2 and again at mile 7 was a very brutal, very steep hill for about a 1/4 mile. I refused to walk it but definitely was a slow shuffle up hill. A couple other hills on the run course slowed me down but I managed my sub-9 pace and am thrilled with that. I also wanted to save energy to be able to sprint across the finish line which I did.
Had lots of thoughts on the run which was definitely the hardest part to power through. It was hot and not a lot of shade. Plenty of times I had to tell myself to just do it. Told myself I had trained for this and to not have any regrets about the way I finished. I am very happy with the overall race and times!
