15k race

70 degrees at the start and 75 degrees by the end with a 63 dewpoint; this race didn't quite go as planned; ate a banana for breakfast and took a Gu about 20 minutes before the start which was fine on my stomach; I thought I was going to be able to at least challenge my PR but my legs just weren't up for it today; went by the 1 mile mark sign at 6:04 with the Garmin saying 5:53 at 1 mile which was obviously too fast-should have listened to Scott when he said to go out around 6:15 but I was too stubborn; my breathing wasn't really labored at any point but my legs just felt dead and the last 5k of the race was a bit of a death march to the finish; I'm hoping that is just because of cumulative fatigue from training; I'm going to put this one behind me and look forward to running fast in the marathon in 3 weeks from now! I know my fitness is higher than it has ever been, I just need the right day in order to prove it...
