8 mile race
Drove up with my dad and sister as a fun day trip; the course was scenic but super hilly; plan was to race the other guys that showed up and see what happened; the first half of the race is out and back on the really long bridge and I found two other guys to try to stick to (Dan Smithhisler and Donovan Davis) with one other guy out in front; I knew we were starting out way too hard for an 8 miler but wanted to hang with somebody since there was a big gap from us back to the next person; they ended up gapping me about 4 miles in on a long, gradual incline coming back on the bridge and then I stayed in no man's land for the rest of the race; I tried to keep pushing it but once we were done with the bridge part is when the actual hills started with quite a few steeper ups and downs; I did my best to maintain my effort to the finish line and was definitely huffing and puffing pretty hard by the time I got back up to the finish; enjoyed this race and even got a toboggan for preregistering and a medal for coming in second in my age group all for only 8 dollars; my dad and sister both did really good-my sister even got an age state record for 15 year old's for 8 miles!
