Notes

First mile race of the season, Bell Distance Classic. I did a good job today of not thinking too much about race strategy, about splits or time and not getting nervous, just decided I was gonna go out and race and see what I could go. I knew it would probably be me, Josh, Coleman, Jaedon, and Cashbaugh contending for the win.

Race started, and Coleman went out flying. I could tell from the start we were going out way too fast, but I felt like I had to go with Coleman otherwise I would lose him. We came through 200 in a blazing fast 30seconds and came through the 400 in 1:04, way too fast, about five seconds faster than I would have wanted to start out. Second lap I tried to catch up to Coleman a little, and tried to make a push towards him on the home stretch of the second lap. Came through the 800 in 2:15. Waited 100 meters into the third lap and then I made my move, pushed hard past Coleman into the lead and tried to gap the field pretty good, pushed again down the home stretch. Alto yelled if I ran a 68 I would run 4:35. Tried to push the last lap but didn't have much left, died a little, but still finished fairly strong and finished in a 72 last 400 for a total time of 4:39.0.

I'm very happy with the effort and how I pushed through pain. Definitely went out stupid fast, but honestly a good idea for me to not let Coleman get too far ahead of me. If I just go out a little bit more conservative, I will have a lot more energy in later laps and easily chop off several seconds of my time. Great way to start the season
