Great race at North Central. Felt sore in back last few days and race day felt really sore everywhere and a bit sick, not super confident with how the race would go. I was hoping to go sub 4:16, negative split. The race went off and I tucked in the back of the pack, very boxed in and sort of scared how I would get out. Came through half in 69.9, stayed tucked in and went 68.3 (2:19.2) the second lap, coming out on the homestretch of that lap. Snuck through a gap and just followed Goertz. We picked it up like crazy on the third lap and I felt like I was cruising, passed Hatty on third lap and felt great, went 65.9 (3:25.1), last lap was cruising, trying to catch Goertz but couldn't get him, last 100 legs locked up a bit and didn't have the best kick but dug in, one NC guy passed me but still finished with a last 300 of 48.8 for a total time of 4:13.1 which translates to a 4:29 or 4:30ish. Super excited with the race, the negative split, 6 second PR, and the mental fight I had. Excited to race another 1500.
