Hehe. NIRCA Regionals. I forgot how fun it can be to break people in a race (oops, that's a little aggressive). Got out at a comfy pace, realized I was going to have to lead. Legs are feeling heavy/ fatigued from all the miles I've been running. Around 2k a U of I girl passed me, so I let her lead for a few ks. Made the decision to break her on the hill at 4k, and I did just that. Threw in a surge up the hill and put 30 seconds on her by the finish. HA.
Anyhow, it's nice to have so many years of competitive racing experience-- I know that I am capable of making those moves and I know where to make them.
Still, low stakes, no emotional energy expended, quality workout-style race!
