Green Bay Turkey Trot 5 Miler - 26:08, 4th place.
Overall, pretty damn solid. Just told myself to go out and race and disregard the clock and that’s exactly what I did. Kept it around a touch above 5:15 and I knew there would be a lot of people that would go out too hard and I’d reel them in later. That ended up being the case. After 2 miles I was in 5th place. Made a conscious effort the third mile to pick it up a bit and I did running a 5:14 that mile. Had to dig a bit the last two miles but with 15 seconds left in the race I was finally able to catch 4th place. Happy to see what was on the clock when finishing. I think this course was a tad short, 4.92-4.94 was what everyone seemed to have. Even if it was 4.92 if you extrapolate the pace that ends up being an 26:24 8k or 26:33 for a full 5 miles. That’s only about 10 seconds slower than my 8k PR which is on a track. So this really was a solid race for me. Happy with this and excited for club nats in a few weeks!
