Notes
First collegiate track race. Second heat of three. Goals were settle into a faster part 2 and sprint the entire last 200 all out. Took it from the gun to the finish so made it kinda like a time trial, no one ever challenged my position. I actually thought about the Ks while I was out there and to trust my rhythm I was setting myself. I think I settled into a fast part 2 but I was all alone so hard to tell. The time indicated otherwise but it was more about feel. Coach Sinnott said he was actually slightly concerned I got into too fast of a rhythm but he said I looked strong the entire race. Gabe told me to make a move somewhere with 3-4 laps to go just to keep my pace and I kinda did that. Did a bad job of building the last 400 into the last 200, but when I hit the 200 it was balls out. I distinctly remember feeling how I wanted to feel with 100 left and pushed through it. Good race, I was confident to lead from the start and I never looked back. Next time I do the mile parts 2 and 3 will be the focus. Settling into a fast rhythm in part 2 and hammering part 3, then coming back in part 4 with whatever I have left. It is clear from the kick I had that I had a lot left. I know I have that extra gear, that is my strength. Using part 2 and 3, particularly part 3, more efficiently I will run faster and still have that gear at the end. Granted it will hurt more but it is supposed to. This race was a ton of fun!!! Loved the boys yelling, I didn't feel like I was running alone.
