Notes
Man, was I spent - before the start. This was hilly. Also: slept like crap the night before. Poured rain. Tent leaked. I just didn't have much to give, but I did gave my all, which was about 85 percent of what I could have. Man, I was just tired. But, won for Katie's birthday and listened to bluegrass all afternoon.
I led the first half mile or so. Kept my pace, despite footsteps around me. When I heard them coming up on me, I just stayed true. Thoughts of well, 2nd to that older guy'd be OK, cuz he won it last year. Then, another younger guy ran w/ me briefly, then passed. But on the turnaround, I caught him on the uphill, then caught #1. Was back in first for the final 1+ mile.
So, should be OK w/ sub 19 not happening -- esp. when #2's 5K pr, set this year, is 17:55.
