Distance: 26.32 per watch. Distance updated to make PR work right. Time updated to official race time.
35-50deg. T-, shorts. Twin Cities Marathon in 3:18:21 (7:34 pace). Ran per Rob's plan, but last 10K was a bear due to "achy areas" - see below - and lack of energy, despite many gels & Powerades.
Plan: 1-3 @ 7:40 ; 4-10 @ 7:30 ; 11-20 @ 7:25 ; 21-26 @ fast.
I'd welcome a debrief, Rob.
Achy Areas:
Many - Began with stiffness / numbness in my L. hamstring prior to mile 10. Had some soreness coming on in R. knee by mile 18. Stopped to massage quads during mile 19 & 20. Began taking Powerade. Ran on crest of the road. Knee got better, but both calves got stiff / no energy for last few miles.
I think my zealous 'working the tangents' had me doing a lot of jockeying around with the other runners. Maybe that contributed to the knee (along with the camber of the road). The L. hammy didn't help either. I missed one of my warm-up stretches - the side-glide - due to parking in an odd spot and being a little thrown off by that, and therefore just forgetting it.
Despite all m "how I felt" stuff, there is the Passed / By stats:
Finish: 30 / 8
24M: 69 / 3
21M: 39 / 8
30K: 35 / 28
13.1M: 27 / 50
10K: 11 / 52
5K: 56 / 280
==> This shows that I had a stronger back half of the race than most. In the last 2 segments (5.2 miles), I was passed by only 11 people, but I passed 109 - a 10:1 ratio.
