SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!

1 mile: 5:33, 5:33/mi

2 mile: 11:35, 6:01/mi

3.1 mile: 17:59, 5:50/mi

This was not only a PR, but just a great all-around race in general. Was worried about my right ankle, but it proved to be resilient. Wore green tights, blue shorts, MRun long sleeve, MRun singlet, Emily's stocking cap, and wool gloves. bob took first with like 17:30, I came in second. The course was mostly hardpacked dirt and woodchips. Second mile was grass. Third mile was uphill for about half of it, flat for the other half. But back to the race:

I was in control. Didn't go out too fast in the first mile (like I did last time), so I was able to stay focused and in control. Second mile was tougher than the rest of the race. I recognized that I needed to pick it up a little bit, and I'm very happy that I was able to. This mile was also on grass, so it took a little bit away from me. Gotta work on my calf strength, as they were getting tired. But because I was in better control than last time, I could negotiate more speed from them and my ankles. Body, you did good. The third mile had a 180° flip in it which slowed me down by a second, but NO MATTER! After that, I took the momentary break to recharge and then kick it back into gear again for the last mile. Cruised it on up toward the uphill which was very much appreciated (got to put the stress on my quads instead of my calves). We mountain men are made for hills, none of this "flat" stuff. Cruised it up the hill, got to the flat part, and turned it up. I could've/should've started my sprint a little earlier, like as SOON as I hit the flat part, instead of waiting for the last .1 miles (160m). I am made for 300m closing sprints; doing half that is doing my time a disservice.

QUALITY race. 10/10. I'm so happy with it. I'm getting better. And I met my goal for going to nationals, so it looks like I have a november race now!
