my PR mile from high school. Hanover Invitational. What a race.

Went out thoroughly confused just trying to hang onto second seed, even though the barrel kids were way ahead of him. I figured he knew what he was doing. Paddy Caldwell, however, went up to catch the barrel kids. It was his first mile race, but he was the stronger runner so i was gonna follow his lead. this was all in the first 150m, mind you. next thing I know it's me in third, paddy in second, and some freshman from keene named serioja. dunno what happened for the next two laps. i just kinda got in the zone and held on.

at the end of the back stretch on the 3rd lap, at 600m to go, i realized we were alone. at 200m to go, i realized that i could do well and the race was in the bag. at 100m to go, paddy started creeping up on the kid and HE DIDN'T RESIST! I remember thinking "HE'S DONE HE'S GOT NOTHING LEFT" so I took my shot and kicked it into gear. I went out. I took it in and brought it home. I won. And it was a glorious day.

I'm writing this now because I've decided i want runningahead to have ALL of my PRs. Also, i'm suffering in my running and want to think back to the glory days where i ran well on no miles.
