A hard run today, pushing up against my threshold pace. Today I wanted to run fast, and I wasn't pulling any punches. I am a man on a mission. I'm dedicated to training for the half-marathon and I'm determined to best my previous time. I started off running real fast. It felt like I wasn't going to be able to hold onto this pace, but I tried and I succeeded, pretty well. I also tried to maintain my form during this run, trying to concentrate on mid-foot landing and leaned-forward stance. I felt pretty good today, and overall I think I'm improving both my speed and my form. My pace was really quick today, and I even felt like I had to keep pushing harder in order to keep my HR at 160. It fell below a couple times and I didn't really feel like I had slowed down. The third and fourth mile were about 10 or so seconds slower than the first two miles, not bad. So I kicked it up for the last mile, as usual. But this time the first half mile I had to push pretty hard just to maintain 160, so I threw everything at it in the second half-mile (from Winton to home, past the Lutheran church). I was able to sustain 165 in this section, and the hill just past Lynnwood (by the Sherriff's house) felt terrible. An EXCELLENT run.
