workout AVG HR 153

Today started off bad. I wanted to run before work, but that just didn't happen. I have been feeling like crap since Monday when I had a flu shot, plus Abby is sick, so I am not sure where it came from or what I have. So, I managed to get out of work at a reasonable time and wanted a little bit of a speed workout today. So, I did the sort-of-a-fartlek run today. The first mile was quick, the second easy, then alternated like that for five miles. The easy runs I was able to keep my HR at about 150 (+/-) and the hard run miles my HR was between 155-160. This was pretty much right where I wanted to be. What wasn't nice though was the fact that it was raining at the start so I put a jacket on. I probably could have gone without the jacket, but it was pretty chilly and I thought it was going to rain more than it did. Either way the jacket wasn't bad. The last of the hard miles I pretty much was trying to get myself used to running as fast as possible. I am not used to it, but it is getting easier to handle. This time I was trying to make sure I kept up the pace for the whole mile and put as much, if not more, effort in at the end as I did for the first mile. I seriously surprised myself. I was hoping to get at or just above 7 minutes and I was able to get down all the way to 6:38. This is the fastest I have run in about TEN YEARS!! Nice. I'm liking it.

Sleep: not good (bed at 11:30pm, awake at about 7:00am after waking up a number of times during the night)

Mood: eh

Physical: no complaints

Clothes: light blue Nike shorts, black compression long-sleeve, blue Pearl-Izumi jacket, red FleetFeet hat (cold for 1-2 miles, then nice)
