Without a doubt, the fastest 5k I can run right now. Was 100% spent when I finished. Estimated from course map that final straightaway was 1/2 mile, and tried to pour everything into it when I got to that point. Probably should have kicked a touch later, but overall, went well.
I may never understand where race pace comes from, because running mile intervals with breaks last week, I could not maintain the pace I ran today. I don't know what happens on race day.
Was incredibly foggy during the morning, and the fog was misting and burning off just as the race started. By end of race, was a nice clear day.
Mile splits were ridiculously even, but every mile felt like I was pushing harder:
Mile 1: 6:56
Mile 2: 13:55
5k: 21:36
Anna came as a spectator, and cheered me through the agony that was the last .1 mile or so. (Thank you, Anna!)
All in all, a nice small race.
