As a preview run for the Second Sole 5k, people all seemed to go out fast for this, which led me to get a little of my normal adrenaline, so I decided to roll with it and see how it would go. I am considering trying to hold back a bit from my race pace and try to run negative splits at next Wednesdays' run, so I wanted to see how I would feel running around a 7:30 pace.
While I was working throughout, the first two miles were reasonable at that pace, and I feel like I can definitely shave some time off the last mile in a true race scenario. So overall, this was good validation, and hopefully I will be able to run similar to this effort next week.
