Notes

Ran the Columbus Half-Marathon with Anna. Was super cold while lining up, but very comfortable once we were up to speed. Weather was clear and sunny, which was a pleasant surprise after a cloudy/overcast week or two prior.

Anna was aiming to break 2:15, so we tried to set a pace that would allow that.

First mile was slow, as we were boxed in for the majority of the time. The starting area was very crowded, and was not segregated according to predicted times very well, resulting in a lot of weaving and dodging. The crowd started to thin out by the second mile, and we were able to get back on pace.

Anna pretty much set the pace for the whole race, with me giving her a little encouragement / peer pressure for the last few miles. We were pretty even throughout, and I feel like most of the variation, which was minor, was effected by the elevation changes, which were also minor.

Mile 12 was probably the most difficult. Anna was pushing harder, but with the elevation for that mile being almost entirely up-hill, we still lost a little off of our pace. Made it up on mile 13, though, as we crested the hill and the majority of the mile was on the down-hill.

Because of the offset between our time and the race clock, we entered the finish pretty much along side the full marathon finishers, which was kind of funny, because we got a rousing cheer. Heh.

My watch time: 2:11:54, chip time 2:11:59.

Felt like we had run a good race / accurate pace for our current training level. Wish we wouldn't have lost so much time at the start, and had kept the pace a little lower for that mile 4 time, but beyond that can't really complain.

Wore long sleeve tech shirt and short sleeve tech shirt, and running shorts. Was comfortable during, but cold before and after. Had a great time. We'll have to see if we can do it again some time.
