Notes

Yesterday was much like our first day in Beaune (but with much less jet lag)! We spent the day walking all over town trying to get the lay of the land. Lots of miles, just none I can add to the log.

Today marked the first time I have ever run with my phone. I hope that doesn't mark me as a complete luddite but it has just never been necessary before. After Googling "parks in Aix" this morning I found one that was just a half mile from where we are staying. Of course the directions involved about a thousand turns in order to get so I opted to use Google Maps to get over there. I had to wear my pack to hold the phone but this did not prove to be much of a deal. I let John know what I was doing and he said he would meet me over there soon.

The park proved to be only a half mile around but the path was shady and it was dirt. I figured I could be steely enough to go around it many times and once I got into a groove it all went down OK. There was a dog-leg of approx. an eight of a mile at one end and 25 stairs that went back up to the path. I ran very hard on this section and up the stairs on each loop and this turned it into a pretty tough workout. I did that loop10x! John showed up at some point and ran the loop counter clockwise so I got to see him for several loops. Zephyr also jumped ship and ran with me instead as she is wont to do. Z and I walked the half mile home when we were done so my average pace is all thrown off, but I think I averaged just shy of 10s on my loops. The hard eights didn't make up for the SLOW recovery jogs that's for sure.
