Notes

The shuttle picked up Barb this morning at eight and I had about an hour to workout before John and I planned to head over to Silverton for the pre-race briefing. The Valley Trail seemed like the obvious choice for a short run. I ran out the usual way but cut into the middle of the valley in a way I never have before. I soon found myself in the middle of the protected Prairie Dog area. I have never once seen a Prairie Dog out here and so was more than a little surprised when one poked its head up out of a hole right in front of me. So cute! I meandered along on the slender, windy mountain bike track and soon the little Dogs were poking their fuzzy heads up out of holes all over the place. I laughed. It reminded me of that Whack-A-Mole game we played as kids. I circled back the way I came so I could enjoy their playful company for as long as I could.

On the return trip I was feeling good, so I decided to run up Boomerang (steep!) for half a mile to add a little punch to my short-ish workout. Felt good! Did a one-mile pick up on mile-5 as well. Great morning.
