Notes

Great hike at Cinque Torri today. We drove to staging area and John, JC and I took the tram to the refugio. Mark and Lynn wanted to hike up. We started slowly to give Mark and Lynn an opportunity to catch up with us which also afforded us time to check out the amazing view of the five huge boulders at the top of the pass (the Cinque Torri). We started the navigation around the perimeter and hiked very hard. Lots of steeps ups and downs and a bit of climbing over rocks. big elevation as well. It was a sweaty effort and big fun. Mark chose a very direct, off-the-trail route, up to the refugio at the end and it was a pitch reminiscent of Col de Ferret from the CCC race of two years before. I was the 2nd one to the top though even throwing a few hapless running steps near the top. A great workout followed by an excellent lunch and then a one-mile hike back to the tram. A most memorable day with friends in the wild. (Ankle OK too).
