Notes

workout with some the NHRR at the high school track near the Yale campus.

Overall thoughts: I really like the morning crew, and I think I might stop joining the Tuesday night crew. Its disorganized, I know more about training than almost all of them, and mostly the leader just doesn't seem interested in anybody at all. He doesn't talk to anyone around, doesn't give workout details, and then just jogs to the start of a 400 and starts his watch and takes off. And people just sort of fall in behind him, or didn't know we were starting, or whatever. Its really stupid. And I'm sick of it. I've been to 2 sessions now, and I don't need them. I've spent way too much time on a track to allow some joker to spoil it for me.

The sessions are supposed to start at 6, and today, like most Tuesdays, I was don't by 4:30 or so and didn't want to wait until 6. So I went over to the track and did a workout by myself and then just chatted with a few people who I DO LIKE as they arrived for the 6pm workout. Jogged a few laps with some of them while they warmup and I cooled down.

Specifically Ben, a 5th year grad student in the school of ecology. Really cool guy and always warm and friendly. Not much of a runner, but very easy to chat with and a great partner for me for warm-ups/cool downs.

Solo workout, because I was there an hour before everybody else, and I'll probably do this from now on. I love the track and no one is going to take that away from me!

They felt pretty good. Still feeling a lot of tightness in my hamstrings, but its not an acute or bad pain. It's just an overall fatigue in that particular muscle from a lot of mileage.

Today the effort for the pieces felt easy, which was good to know and the intended plan. And at the same time because of the tightness I didn't feel like I would have been able to go much faster. Not because I was anywhere near my fitness threshold, but just because of late onset soreness. I was happy with it, and the overall response I was getting from my legs was a good one. 6 min pace didn't feel particularly fast, so thats good.
