Notes

First run in tropical paradise: the Caribbean island of St. John. I called it a hill workout because here everything is a hill. I hopped on the cinnamon bay trail, similar to many trails in Decorah, which is about a mile from my resort, and proceeded to do nothing but climb. I have no idea how far I really went, but I'm giving myself credit for 8 because I was out there for an hour and a half plus. About an hour in I came across an 8 foot iguana lying across the trail. It was terrifying. I stopped in my tracks and that immediately became my turning point. I'm convinced it chased my down for the next half hour, although that could have been my over active imagination.

About 2/3 of the way up to iguana intersection I came across cinnamon bay overlook. It was breath taking. Perfect turquoise blue green water, a bay complete with a few sailboats moored overnight, golden white sand stretching for a mike along he coast, and green jungle surrounding the entire bay, not a house or sign of human life to be seen. I paused for about 10 minutes to enjoy the scenery. It was well worth the stop.
