Notes

Got in 9 miles today with a workout with the team at practice.

5x 800 repeats in the prairie at 10K, CC, 5K, 4K, 3K.

Considering the effort I gave on Sunday and the degree of soreness I still feel, a workout probably wasn't smart. But hey, I'm not really training for anything anymore, and friends were doing a workout, so why not. The legs felt surprisingly good! My lungs bothered me more today than they have in a few days, so that was a bummer, but still not to the degree of last Thursday.

I ran the first two repeats with Lauren Mordini, Kara, and Kaia, and they were floating along at great paces. Ran the 3rd and 4th pieces with Mallory, Erin Ellefsen, and Hailey Hansen, and all of their side aches/abdominal pains from the last few weeks seem to be cooperating, so that is great news. Ran the last one with Sarah Owens, Hannah, and Kenzie, and that group was spry and excited as always. I had fun bouncing around to the different groups and getting the updates on how people are feeling. My legs felt fine, not great but fine, so I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Didn't even try to do the workout with Tricia. After Sunday's race I wasn't in any kind of position to attempt those kinds of paces. Her tempo workout last week felt like about my race pace, so I can't imagine what 5k, 4k, and 3k would have felt like today. I'm sure my mile pace to-date, or faster.

Did a 3 mile cool down with Tricia at warp speed it felt like. hah. But my legs were still cooperating and we were exciting and buzzing about strategy and teams and individuals for this weekend, so I didn't' mind the pace. Upon finishing I was very glad to be done running, as a 9 mile day and a workout is probably not what would have been recommended today. My core is feeling fatigued after a great trail race and a killer pilates session with Shauna today, but it is a happy fatigue. Planning to take it easy tomorrow.

Team looks great and is excited to tear it up on Saturday. We have meetings with the top 6 tomorrow to talk some race strategy. It is an exciting time! More to come on that tomorrow.

YES. Keep the deets coming. You are a straight-up G.

Any reason you are meeting with just the top 6 instead of 7?

Also, you took the time to write up this workout but not your race? Race recaps are my favorite thing to read on RunningAhead!

Emma Spoon

Woot woot! Loving the IIAC week work and fun!

I second Drew's comment. Race details ASAP, please!

Maggie P

Okay sorry! I got distracted. Writing today.

Maggie P

Alright Drew and Emma, the race recap is up. Happy?

Drew5

I'm satisfied, but since it was a day later than you had promised I am not happy.
