Yesterday was an easy day for the team. Second shortest day of the week, according to Steve, following the workout on Tuesday. Everybody 20-40 minutes. Plus the percentage is only 65 this week, so there aren't many miles to work with in the first place. Given these two considerations, I decided to get a few in before practice. I ran under the bridge and the trail out towards Roslien, which has been recently mowed!! No longer grown over and hazardous, it was a very nice and welcoming run. I ran out 12 minutes, following that trail to the very end, and then crossed pole line and headed up into Roslien for a few minutes, before turning around and re-tracing my steps. I got in 3 before practice time at 4:15. My legs felt pretty good considering a tough race on Sunday and then a workout on Tuesday. Not great, but not bad by any means. The sun was out and I very much enjoyed the route because I haven't run there since August due to the over growth.

At practice I ran 5 with Lauren Mordini, Tessa, Jenna, and Yarrow. The first 20 minutes was spent listening to Yarrow tell the story of her engagement to Steve. I have heard this story before, but always enjoy a good Yarrow tale, and some of the young guns hadn't heard her tell it before. Great entertainment. We ran through downtown, crossed over Bruening's bridge, and then ran river trail back to college drive, by way of the NEW ENTRANCE! A crew of runners and others did some work on a new entrance to river trail from the other side of the bridge, avoiding the stream crossing, and re-constructed a new path where many of them have been eroded away by the river or covered with fallen trees. The project was finished on Monday and none of us had had run it yet, so that was the motivation behind the route for the day. Ran North Street back to school and I added a mile of barefoot on the course. It is approaching the time of year when it becomes too cold for barefoot. By the time I was done with 8 minutes my feet were quite cold, but a mile is still do-able, for now.

Haha, Hazard's Trail wasn't "hazardous." Sounds like a nice mix of running. Gosh, I miss those fall Decorah days.
