Notes

Had a great V1 technique Day with the Wayzata Varsity kids.

Did a ton of good uphill work and by the end my buns were burning.

Got in about 15km of total skiing, with lots of stop and talk and demonstrate, etc.

What is a lot in terms of kms skied in a week?

Maggie P

That's a great question.

In skiing they pretty much exclusively keep track of volume in hours, and not in km. I just find km helpful right now because my watch tells me exactly, and depending upon what kind of practice it is, long, intervals, technique, etc, I might ski A LOT in two hours or I might ski very little. So km work really well for me right now.

I would say 14 hours/week is a TON. When Anders and others were training in college they were probably doing 18hrs/week during top volume

during top volume weeks.

I bet right now I average a pace of about 10k/hour, give or take a bit.

So after Monday-Thursday of skiing I have 56km, divide that by 10 and I have about 5.5 "hrs" of skiing so far this week. I'll probably get two hours on Saturday, and two on sunday, so end with about 10 hours this week.

That's a really solid week, and I will never be somebody who skis 14hrs/week, just not going to happen.

Plus trying to hit 30miles/week, ish.

Thank you. I would like to attend one of Maggie's ski clinics one day.
