Notes
Had a GREAT workout today!
Felt fully recovered after being sick, and also QUITE fresh after a day off and a really easy day.
Goal was to accomplish a 4 mile tempo
warm-up
4 mile tempo:
6:44
6:41
6:40
6:28
cool down
Felt really good. Given how good I felt through the first 3, that pace is probably slightly slower than tempo, but I was planning to ease into it anyway as I didn't know going in how my body would react to a workout stimulus after being sick. Or, perhaps that pace IS a true "tempo", a pace you could hold for an hour. Because probably most of the tempo workouts I do or did through college were actually faster than a true tempo pace. At least that's my guess.
Ended the 4th mile feeling Superb!
I'm hoping to get in one long tempo-isn effort per week for the next month in a half or so in preparation to race a half marathon. Started with 4 miles today, both to ease into this kind of work and not get too excited too fast, (October 10th is quite a while from now) and to not push too hard after Wednesday. Hopefully the distances of the tempo efforts will lengthen in the coming weeks.
6:45 ish felt pretty darn comfortable, which was really fun to see and feel. Now the question is, after 3 miles at that pace, could I hold it for another 10? That, my friends, is what I eventually will find out.
