3x 2miles @ marathon effort w/ 2-3 min jog recovery

I felt good today. Tried to maintain my effort despite a strong tail or headwind at times. My splits were fairly consistent which I was pleased with. I'm definitely trying to maintain my focus on marathon effort as opposed to marathon pace this early in the season, and I think the effort was right. A good day, and beat the rain.

Splits: 6:49, 6:50, 6:43, 6:42, 6:41, 6:45

Yes, of course eventually I want my marathon pace to be significantly faster, but for now I'm happy with it.

Really need to figure out this back thing, because again today it was definitely my limiting factor. When I got home and expressed my frustration to Anders and we chatted about exactly what it feels like and when it happens for about the 20th time in the last few weeks, he surmised that maybe it's stemming from general tightness in my hamstrings or glutes. I guess I hadn't really thought of that yet, but its certainly a possibility. I'm willing to try anything to make it better, that's for sure. So it looks like I'm going to be putting some effort into stretching those muscle groups in the next few weeks. Probably a good idea, given that I haven't really placed much emphasis on stretching since..... ever.
