17:19 for....something. Definitely not 5k. Several people measured 3.05 or 3.06. I don't wear a GPS watch so I don't have my own measurement.
That said, if it was really 3.05 then 17:19 is worth 17:38, which would be excellent and exactly what I wanted. And it could be shorter than that and still be a great race.
The best part was the competition. I haven't had a chance to race in a pack in a year and I'm really happy to say that I didn't panic and did all the right things. There was a decent sized pack with ~1400 to go when we turned onto Union Street and I outkicked all of them!
Went out in ~5:45 which was probably roughly accurate and then came back really hard in the second half, running people down.
Too bad about the measurement.
