Notes

Decent race although apparently short. 2.93 is from James's GPS, which probably measured short since the course was wooded and windy. It was definitely well short of 5k.

I went out in 5:46 with Maksym, Thomas, and James and a large pack of other people. After the mile mark James and the non-Goddard folks slowly dropped off but Maksym and Thomas were still with me. I attacked coming out of the turnaround and started picking people off. I didn't see Maksym after that but he stayed pretty close to me the whole way. I moved up from around 20-25th at the mile mark to about 10th with a mile to go. I started my surge from about 1/2 mile out (judgement call based on the warmup) and moved into 7th. One older guy went by me with 400 to go and a kid that I passed with 200 to go passed me in the last few seconds - I didn't have the speed to respond. Not bad, over-all.

This was a pretty good race for the fitness I have right now. I don't think I could have asked for better. The results show that Ted Poulos was only 6 seconds behind me. I never saw him - he may have been stalking me the whole time and not quite gotten there.

This was a mixed-bag day for the team. Maksym and Paul ran OK, James not so well. Thomas looked OK as well - about as good as he's ever run. I don't know Tom (Thomas's dad's) time since his chip didn't work. I probably had the best race of anyone. I'm not too happy about that since this is their peak time but this was the least important race of the competitive season so hopefully they got their stinker out of the way today.
