Notes
Ran 88:32, which is slower than I expected but makes sense in retrospect. It was a very consistent race. The first 8 miles we started at 6:45 and cut down to 6:36 with a faster mile down the big hill at mile 4 and then 6:36 for several miles after that. After 8 miles we started to climb. Gradually at first and then from 11-12.5 it was really steep. We ran ~6:45 again from 8-10 and then a 7:40 up the big hill. Only two people passed me the whole race and stayed ahead. One came from nowhere and glided past on the hill. The other was a woman who I went back and forth with from 6-10, and then she flew up the hill.
Pretty much marathon pace the whole way, modulo giant downhill from 3-4 and giant uphill from 11-12. Carolyn and I went stride for stride for the first half and then we sorta yo-yo'd past each other several times and were neck and neck again at the top of the hill with 1000 to go. I ended up a few seconds ahead at the finish.
We passed a ton of very unhappy people. So it wasn't fast, but wow we got the hydration and the electrolytes right! We were passing a bag of salt tables back and forth and that made a big difference.
