Course a tick over 3 miles. MoBram and I plan on cruising together for awhile then finishing as needed. One guy goes out with us for about 50m then puts on the brakes. He ends up finishing in 23 - low so a wise choice.
First mile in 6:24 with a nice road blockage by the Dexter PD over business 25... Much appreciated. Shortly after the one mile mark my cadence picks up slightly and go ahead of Bram a bit. Into the park for a counterclockwise loop then back out to the city street; hit the 2 mile mark about 70 m after leaving the park trail. I see the third place guy working his way toward the park loop as I am leaving. Garmin split at 2.0 mile mark = 12:34 so I picked up the pace to 6:10 for the second split.
Cruise onward to main road back toward the start line. Finish with 18:42 on the Roadrunners clock so the final 1.01 was covered in 6:08. Felt good. Watch my teammate come in second with a 19:22 and once computed, looks like both of us hit 80% age-graded times.
Any other race and my 57 y.o. running mate would have had another OA title so giving him a big "Assist" on the OA. Solid work, a lot of fun and just glad I am able to stay out there doing it with good company as moving toward mid-50s. Long live CBEGM!
