Notes
Not much to say. Small crowd and the second fastest guy there was running to clock.
Solo effort after 400m after I drafted off a pesky 10 y/o sprinter.
I was running right at 6 flat pace through the first 2/3 mile then evidently got completely loose and came through mile 1 at 5:51; Don't need any more of that so ease it down a notch and go through mile 2 split at 6:03. Stay at that pace for another quarter mile then start relaxing and slowing it down a bit. Third mile = 6:06 and except for doing a 100m "kick" the length of the football field was a pretty relaxed mile right around my LT threshold.
Felt very good aerobically at the end of the 3 mile jaunt. After handing my stick to the counters I went out immediately for a very easy 1.75 miles to finish up and cool down.
Huge trophy for OA male - as big of a trophy as the Azalea 5K race. Be a good bookend for my awards wall.
3.00 miles on my garmin and course just a bump hillier than the Azalea course (as well as .13 miles shorter).
Age-grade percentage for this 51 y/o = to 79.8%. I will take it as a solo effort with minimal effort on the 3rd mile.
Long live CBEGM; they are evidently not yet able to consistently knock us off of the top rung so we will just continue to collect the hardware. Amazing really!!!
