I have discovered in the last 2 weeks that I am not very fast in the pool but once I get warmed up I can swim for a long time. At my 1:45-1:50 100m pace, I can swim for a very long time. Get more tired trying to keep the laps straight than I do swimming the distance. 1000m was a joke tonight.
