Good weather for the race. Little wind at the start with a bit of a head wind coming into Boston. Started back with Reno and Helen in corral 3 and it took a while to get across the start line. Even then, we had to weave in and out to get any clearance. Could tell from the early miles that my achilles and hamstring were troubling me. I decided at about the half way point to slow the pace or risk walking in the latter stages. Reno surged ahead and Helen was back. It had to fight to hold it together. As I approached the hills, started to feel tightness in my hamstrings. At that point I was just trying to maintain and finish without walking. I just told myself, one more mile and managed to get to the finish line.
All this was overshadowed by the tragedy of the 2 bombings at the finish line which killed 3 people and many more injuries. A very sad time.
