Notes

Drove to the race with Chris, not too cold. This was supposed to be a training run. Decided to wear a long sleeve under singlet, but no gloves. I started a bit further back. First few miles felt very comfortable and tried not to break 7:30 pace. I hooked up with another couple of guys, but let them go ahead as they were going faster than my intended pace. There were some hills, nothing big, but rolling. I wasn't feeling like I could push it too much harder. I am sure some of it was mental. When we got to the dirt path at about 16.5, the lead runners were coming the other way on the same path. It was a long path into the wind and I didn't really care for it. It was nice to turn around, but I was mostly running solo. It got cloudy and colder. The dirt path did turn to tarmac later on which was easier. I was passing a lot of runners. I felt I wanted to break 3:25. Got off the path at about 23, passed the finish line at 24 and straight into a strong head wind, it was really brutal, That was my toughest mile. At about 25.5, we turned around and had a tail wind for the last half mile. Was happy to cross the finish line. 2nd in age group.
