Notes

Apparently my race-day preparation needs a little work, since I managed to forget my Garmin watch. Since I had decided to take the run easy, it didn't really bother me though. Unfortunately, it means I have no race splits.

I sense that I started the race quite fast (sub-8:00/m). Was running strong and steady for first half of the race.

Hip flexor pain returned around mile 6. I decided to slack off the pace at this point, and was probably running 9:00/m to maybe even 9:20/m. Such a shame, because I think I would have earned the Chicago Marathon seeding result if I was not injured.

The pain became quite severe around mile 10-11. Also pain up and down inside of right leg (psoas?). Glutes very stiff too. Ouch. Had to stop more than once to "release" the leg.

Still managed to finish, and finished with a kick. POSTSCRIPT: Oddly enough, my groin pain finally went away not too long after this race, so I obviously did no major aggravation to the injury.

Oh, and the singular highlight of the race: I saw a Berner puppy. :)
